Postgame: Mets 5 at Phillies 6 (Game 2)

Today the Mets lost in 10 innings at Citizen’s Bank Park to the Phillies by a score of 6-5.

W- Jack Taschner (1-0)
L – Sean Green (0-2)
Box Score/Recap:

At the Plate:
  • Daniel Murphy was 1 for 2 with a home run.
  • Ramon Castro followed his home run with one of his own and was 2 for 3 but was taken out as Omir Santo pinch ran for him.
  • Carlos Delgado was a pinch hitter and walked so it doesn’t look like he will be going to the DL. After Delgado walked they had pitcher John Maine pinch run for him so he must really not be able to run the bases since they brought a pitcher in to run for him.
On the Mound:
  • Bad Ollie showed up and went only 2 and 1/3 innings before being taken out. Hre was his line:
IP  H  R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA
    O Perez 2.1 5 4 4 6 2 0 77-36 9.97

  • Ken Takahashi relived him and went 2 and 2/3 innings giving up no runs.
  • Pedro Feliciano then came in and blew the 5-4 lead when he gave up a solo homer to Raul Ibanez.
  • Bobby Parnell then pitched a very good inning and J.J. Putz then threw 2 good innings.
  • In the 10th the Mets brought in Sean Green who put runners on 1st and 2nd with on out. Then got a strikeout. Then a walk to load the bases. Then he went down in the count 2-1 to Shane Victorino. Got him to swing at one in the dirt to even up the count. Then he threw one way outside and then he blew the game, giving up ball 4 high with the bases loaded, so the Mets lose.
My Opinion:
I thought that we would get a good outing from Ollie but was wrong. Now he might be sent to the minors to work on stuff. If I was the Mets I would sent him to Bufffalo for 2 or 3 starts and tell him that you will come back if you pitch well in Buffalo. Clear your head and start winning games again.

Player of Game: Raul Ibanez for tying te game in the 6th with his homer. He was 2 for 4.
Met of Game: Ken Takahashi for keeping the Mets in the game when Ollie couldn’t pitch.
Up Next:
The rubber game will be tomorrow. John Maine vs. Joe Blanton at 1 PM. The Mets will try to win their first series finale this year.

Postgame: Nationals 3 at Mets 4 (Series Opener)

Last night the Mets beat the Nationals 4-3 at Citi Field.

W- Johan Santana (3-1)
L – Scott Olsen (0-3)
S – Francisco Rodriguez (4)
Box Score/Recap

At the Plate:
  • The Mets had 11 hits.
  • The Mets were 1 for 16 with runners in scoring position.
On the Mound:
  • Johan went 5 shutout but then gave up a home run to Nick Johnson in the 6th.
IP  H  R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA
    J Santana 6.0 6 1 1 1 10 1 104-78 0.70

  • Bobby Parnell then came in for 2/3 of a inning and Feliciano finished the 7th.
  • J.J. Putz then pitched the 8th scoreless.
  • Franky Rodriguez then came in for the 9th and gave up a 2 run home run but was then able to hold the lead.
  • The bullpen’s line was this:
Bullpen IP  H  R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA
    R Parnell (H, 3) 0.2 1 0 0 0 2 0 18-13 2.08
    P Feliciano (H, 2) 0.1 0 0 0 0 0 0 5-3 4.50
    J Putz (H, 4) 1.0 0 0 0 0 1 0 10-9 3.00
    F Rodriguez (S, 4) 1.0 2 2 2 0 1 1 22-14 2.70
    Totals 6.0 3 2 2 0 4 1 55-39

My Opinion:
Johan was great. Parnell, Feliciano and Putz all relieved well. Johan had to keep his pitch count lower and get another inning. Franky was wild and not so good. He hadn’t pitched in 6 days so that was a problem.

Player of Game:
Johan Santana for his great day.

Today at 1 PM vs Nats.

Last night the new latest leaders came out. I got #25! Thank you for all of my visitors and keep coming back in my road to the top 10.

Last time the latest leaders came out, I wasn’t on it and I was furious. Read this post for the story on it. Mark ended up extending the list to 53 for me but this time I am on it.

#25

Most people dedicate there ranking but I will un-dedicate to one of the worst mets ever.

Supposed to be good but never was.

Fans hated him.

He stole Reyes’ position.

(Should know by now)

Always led off the year with a home run.

(Should definitely know now.)

Postgame: Padres 6 at Mets 5 (Home Opener)

Last night the Mets lost to the Padres by a score of 5-4 in the first regular season game at Citi Field.

W- Edward Mujica (1-0)
L – Brian Stokes (0-1)
S – Heath Bell (4)
Box Score/Recap

At the Plate:
  • In the 5th inning, David Wright hit a very clutch 3 run homer for his 1st of the year.
  • Delgado, Church and Schnieder were the only ones not to get a hit.
In the Field:
  • Ryan Church dropped a fly ball in the 5th inning to lead to a run scoring.
On the Mound:
  • Mike Pelfrey struggled in the first inning but then settled down and went 5 (88 pitches).
  • After David Wright’s game tying home run, Pedro Feliciano balked in a run and there was no more scoring after that.
  • The Mets were hitless off Duaner Sanchez and Heath Bell.
The Stadium:
  • It still needs more concession stands. The lines are crazy.
  • The apple is much bigger when Wright hit that home run.
  • It is definitely a pitcher’s park. Maybe even more so then Shea.
  • If you are going then don’t enter in the rotunda. Security is way to high there and it is much better if you enter in the left or right field entrance.
Player of Game:
The Player of game goes to Jody Gerit for hitting the first ever home run at Citi Field.
The Met of game goes to David Wright bringing the team back in the 5th.
Up Next:
Off today then tomorrow night at Citi Field against the Padres, 7:10.
