After the game Adam Rubin is reporting that the Mets have sent Jonathan Niese to triple-A Buffalo after his 5 run, 4 2/3 innings in today’s game. Rubin says that the Mets will replace Niese with Nelson Figueroa. Rubin also said that he would not be surprised if the Mets activate Tim Redding from the DL for Monday’s game.
I know Niese didn’t pitch very well but I like him.I was a little busy today so I didn’t really get to watch him pitch but I think he could get another start.

then you can fin it here
I am going to start something called the Daily Scouting Report that I hope will get more viewers to come back each day. The report will usually be on a minor league player but may be on a opposing player or a opposing team. For the first one I would like to scout Dillon Gee, who is pitching today against the Marlins at 1 PM on PIX 11.
Here is Gee’s bio
. So far this spring Gee has pitched in 4 games and started 1. He has pitched 6 innings in total and has givin up 7 runs (only 2 earned).
Gee, 22 years old, has spent 2 years with the Mets. In 2007 he was on the Brooklyn Cyclones and was 3-1 in 14 games (11 started) with a ERA of 2.47. He pitched 62 innings striking out 56 batters and only walking 9 batters.
Last year they brought him up to St. Lucie. He was 8-6 in 21 games (started all of them) with a ERA of 3.25 in 127 1/3 innings pitched. He also won five straight decisions from May 30-July 6Then in August they sent him up to double A and was 2-0 in 4 starts allowing 1 run in each start. He had a 1.33 ERA.
Gee is not looking to make the team but would like to show the Mets and their fans (he will be on TV) that he can get major league hitters out.
This game reminds me of that split squad game last year when Niese pitched one game and Parnell pitched the other. The game was late in spring training, on TV, with a guy who is not trying to make the team but is just showing who he is. Who knows. Maybe Gee will come up later in the year and be like Niese or Parnell.
Here is a video of a game that Gee pitched in 2007:
J.J. Putz and K-Rod both worked 1-2-3 innings in a minor league intra-squad game today.
He plans to work back to back games for the first time this spring over this weekend.
That is important I think. RIght. The closer should be pitching on back to back days. The season is around the corner K-Rod. Be ready.
I know he will be ready. I am just kidding.
He plans on pitching again tomorrow in Jupiter, FL against the Cardinals. He also plans on pitching 2 innings for the first time this spring on Sunday against the.
That will be good to have Putz be able to go more than 1 inning so when nobody else in the bullpen can pitch Putz can go the 7th and 8th or also in a long extra inning game we can have Putz go 2 or maybe even 3 innings.
He admitted that he should be sent to the minors because it was taking him longer to rehab his surgery then he thought.
Could he be lying? Could he just make an excuse for not performing. Well there is no way to find out.
The Mets anounced that Livan Hernandez will be the 5th starter and they have also sent Freddy Garcia to Minor League Camp after Garcia accepted his assignment.
Good, Garcia isn’t the starter. Livan is ok but I would have rather seen Niese or Pedro.
